The team of instructors at CMA are unmatched! I haven't seen a group of educators who know more about martial arts and child development. The first day that we stepped foot in their door, I was so nervous because nobody had ever been able to reach my child before. He was always anxious and had never found an activity that he actually WANTED to participate in. He told me that he was not going to participate-only watch. We arrived and in less than 30 seconds, Shihan Jenny had him participating with the group AND he was enjoying it!
CMA has given my child such confidence. He has developed much better body control and awareness. He now tries to make up his own "forms" and teaches us every night. I cried from happiness the other day because he was so excited about going to his karate class. We have found something that he loves and has a passion for. I'm so grateful that we found this place and cannot recommend them enough!

I absolutely love this place. My son has been attending this dojo for almost a year now. All of the children are taught positive attributes such as courage, courtesy, and confidence and they all resonate with encouragement for others and respect for their parents and staff. I also attend personal training here and have been so impressed with how wonderful the whole CMA family is!

Championship Martial Arts is amazing! My two boys, now five and seven, have been enrolled in classes since they were three and a half years old. The instructors are highly skilled and Shihan Jenny is phenomenal with the students. Classes are structured, instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. We had several birthday parties at the dojo as well--and the boys loved it! My older son is taking classes almost daily and he would take multiple classes every day (he enjoys the classes that much!) Shihan Jenny has a way to motivate students to do their best and excel to their fullest potential. The integration of character traits into the karate curriculum is also impressive as the "Lesson of the Month" provides key life skills. I highly recommend Championship Martial Arts to anyone who is interested in the highest quality karate instruction available.

I love this Dojo! The instructors are knowledgeable, patient and encouraging to all students. I feel very fortunate to be in the happy circumstance of being in the vicinity of such an excellent Karate school when I was looking for a place for my son. He absolutely loves it and I could not have asked for better. My father who studied Martial arts for over 40 years watched the instruction and students one time and gave Shihan Jenny the highest praise I have ever heard pass his lips. If you are looking for the best, look no further.

A fantastic, supportive, and focused environment. From the instructor, Shihan Jenny, down to the younger instructors, the staff is well trained and equipped to handle all ages. A great experience in learning self defense, confidence and training for the body and mind. Reasonable costs and well worth the time in seeing the classes teach sportsmanship and a valuable skill.

CMA , Can't say enough good things about CMA and Shihan Jenny and Sensei Chris for helping my son Sempai Christopher grow and develop into the awesome young man that he is at almost 17 years now. I am so proud of his work ethic, integrity, helpfulness, respectfulness, and humbleness that I know has come from him being partly at CMA and from you working with him for nearly 7 or 8 years now. I cannot thank you both enough for your guidance and friendship as Christopher has had to deal with a lot of difficult times during these years. My hope is he will always continue to be able to call on you as friends and to continue his karate as long as he feels its a support to him. Thank you so much.

Love the atmosphere here, my son and I are both apart of the family/students and the instructors from our Shihan all the way down to leaders in the class are fantastic; patient with people but also pushes at the same time to make you better mind and body. Excited for more classes with so much to learn. Great way to also teach kids focus, respect, and confidence in themselves and leading others (adults too).

I looked around quite a bit for a good karate studio for my son - we were looking for strength and decency, not just fighting. Most of the places I found were way more Cobra Kai than Mr. Miyagi, but one day we stopped in to the place beside our grocery store and found Championship Martial Arts. From the owner to the younger instructors, we found kind but serious, friendly but tough people that push my son in appropriate ways and require a lot from him - and he loves it. We also found a community of parents and long term students that is supportive and helpful. I wouldn't want to send my son anywhere else. I've often told people that if my kid ends up anything like the student instructors that are long term products of that program, that's okay with me.

Does your young child

struggle with these things?

They struggle to maintain control of their movements and may be unintentionally destructive.

They find it difficult to focus on a task or to see it through to the end.

They have a hard time sharing their belongings and getting along with other kids.

Parenting young children is a real challenge.

You must balance their natural inquisitiveness and high energy with trying to teach them the basic skills they need for school and life.

Discipline, sharing, and self-control are all things they need to learn to be successful.

The ideal setting is one that’s got some structure but works with kids at their current developmental level. If they have fun while they’re learning, they’ll be more likely to retain those lessons and learn the skills they need.

Results and growth with every class!

Studying martial arts is ideal for young children. It provides them with an outlet for their energy. But, it also teaches them about respect, discipline, and other core values that will go with them beyond the dojo. Junior martial arts classes teach kids to control their movements and behavior, and they’ll learn social skills and interaction at the same time.

Studying Martial Arts Builds Physical Coordination and Control

Young children who learn martial arts find out quickly that each movement must be intentional. They learn to control their movements to the best of their ability.

They also practice hand-eye coordination and learn about their bodies. That means they’ll be less likely to be unintentionally destructive.

Young Martial Arts Students Learn How to Focus

Getting young kids to pay attention can feel like an impossible task. The structure of our martial arts classes shows kids the importance of focus and teaches them by having them apply it to easily-achievable tasks.

The focus they learn in the dojo is something they’ll take home – and into the classroom. That’s why kids who study martial arts tend to be good students, too.

Martial Arts Helps Kids Learn to Deal with Frustration

Martial arts instruction requires students to pursue goals to earn new belts. Young kids can easily become frustrated when they don’t get what they want, but studying martial arts helps them learn the power of persistence.

The physical activity in our classes also helps kids manage stress and anxiety by allowing them to burn it off in a safe and constructive way.

Kids Who Study Martial Arts Learn Good Sportsmanship

Losing is not anybody’s idea of fun, but we all need to learn how to accept a defeat gracefully and move on. We teach students that losing is part of life – and it’s what you do after you lose that tells people who you are.

Even though martial arts is an individual sport, we cultivate an environment of supportive teamwork where students root for one another.

FAQs

My child still has temper tantrums and I’m worried about how they’ll behave in school. Can studying martial arts help?

Yes, it can. We help children learn the importance of emotional control and respect for others. These are lessons that will help them in the classroom, too.

Will studying martial arts help my child learn how to interact with others and share?

Yes. Even though studying martial arts is an individual pursuit, we teach kids to learn in a collaborative environment with an emphasis on sharing, cooperation, and teamwork.

My child zones out in class and misses important instructions. Can taking martial arts classes help them do a better job of focusing?

Yes. Part of martial arts training is teaching kids to be mindful of themselves and their surroundings. They must focus to succeed in class, and once they learn to do it, they’ll be able to do the same thing at school.

My child is out of control physically, and can be very destructive. How will studying martial arts help?

Martial arts instruction focuses on hand-eye coordination, control, and strength. As kids learn basic moves and then advance, they learn how to control their bodies and movements.

My child gives up easily when frustrated. I want them to learn persistence. Can your classes help?

Yes. It’s common for students to require more than one attempt to earn a new belt. We teach them that trying is the most important thing – and that persistence pays off.

My child is disrespectful to me and to other caregivers. How can studying martial arts change that?

Respect is at the core of everything we do in the dojo. Kids who study martial arts must respect their instructors and fellow students, and we find that they learn to respect parents, teachers, caregivers, and siblings at the same time.
